This month, we're celebrating two members who connected intentionally and took a memorable trip together: Ingrid and Ijahkay! They recently journeyed to Morocco, and we’re thrilled to share their travel tips and highlights from the adventure.

Jam Sesh Vibes
One of the highlights was a lively jam session! A man in the crowd started speaking to me in Moroccan Arabic. I didn’t catch everything, but he was smiling, so I’m guessing it was all good vibes. Ingrid and I really got into it! While most people there spoke French or Arabic, my Arabic is Quranic, so I picked up some modern words along the way, which was fun and helpful.
Desert Adventures and Camel Rides
We rode camels by a deserted beach—definitely a unique experience! The camels were so friendly and trotted over to us when our car pulled up. We suspect they were looking forward to an after-work treat! The tour was a bit disorganized, though. Our driver had the wrong itinerary and hours, so we ended up with three people and lost an hour, rushing through the market at the end. Still, the experience was one to remember.
Travel Lessons Learned
Ryanair was a bit of a headache, too. I ended up spending an extra £100 because all that was included in the ticket was a handbag, which I didn’t realize at first. After paying £40 on the way out and £35 on the way back, I learned to check baggage allowances carefully. Next time, I’d consider other airlines like Jet2.
Food Highlights
The food was amazing! We had a quick stop at McDonald’s, which had a dessert bar and unique smoothies, but the highlight was trying traditional Moroccan dishes. The tagine was exceptional, paired with some refreshing mint tea. I also picked up some saffron and dried mint at the market, standing firm during the sales pitches. With a €40 spend, I even received a complimentary block of ambergris, which I gifted to my daughter.
Cultural Notes
Tangier’s culture was welcoming and modest, which I appreciated. People were friendly and warm, and alcohol wasn’t a big part of the scene—no bars or overly revealing outfits. Although I typically follow a halal diet, I enjoyed a glass of wine with my steak on our first night. The drinks and snacks were full of natural sugars, with flavors like guava, soursop, and passionfruit, which was a nice touch.

Traveling with a New Friend
This was my first time traveling with someone from the members' club who I didn’t know well. Ingrid and I spoke on the phone beforehand to find common ground, which made everything smoother.

We shared similar beliefs (we’re both Christian) and were looking for a break that balanced relaxation with a bit of adventure. While we didn’t share the same music tastes, we made small allowances for each other. Being honest and considerate really helped make it a great experience. Having someone outside of my usual circle to offload to and share a new perspective with was refreshing
Until Next Time,Ijahkay
