Sal, Cape Verde, is a breathtakingly laid-back island, perfect for those looking to unwind and embrace the simple pleasures of island life. With its stunning beaches, vibrant local culture, and warm, welcoming people, Sal is a true gem in the Atlantic. Here’s a recap of our time exploring this beautiful destination – complete with adventure, relaxation, and a touch of Cape Verdean culture.
Day 1: Full Day Sal Explore Tour

Our first full day on Sal started with an exciting Sal Explore Tour! We hopped into a Spinach Car and headed to the island’s top spots. First stop? Mudeira Village, a quaint little place filled with history and charm. The locals were so welcoming, and we learned a bit about their unique way of life.
From Mudeira, we made our way to Pedra de Lume Salt Mines. Here, we experienced the surreal floating effect in the Salt Springs, surrounded by views that felt out of this world. The therapeutic properties of the salt left us feeling rejuvenated – and maybe just a bit salty!
Our adventure continued at Shark Bay, where we got to dip our feet in the water with gentle lemon sharks gliding around us. It was an incredible, safe way to interact with these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat.
Sal Walking City Culture Tour & Market Visit
After an unforgettable morning, we immersed ourselves in the heart of Sal’s vibrant culture with a City Walking Tour. We strolled through markets bursting with colorful street art, locally made crafts, and traditional Cape Verdean foods. The energy was infectious, and we made sure to support local artisans by picking up some unique souvenirs.

Hotel Activities & Entertainment
Our evenings were filled with excitement and relaxation, thanks to the hotel’s pre-planned activities. From live music to cultural performances, we got to experience a new layer of Cape Verdean culture each night. Having the chance to relax and join in on the music was a wonderful way to wind down from a day of exploring.

Unwind, Relax, and Connect
Sal is an island where relaxation is key. Between the activities, we took time to unwind by the pool, stroll along the beach, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For those who wanted a little more excitement, optional excursions like catamaran tours and snorkeling were available. The snorkeling was a hit – for only around €30, you could discover Sal’s colorful underwater world.
